Catsuit Kelly's Fan Profile as it appeared in
Crazed Imaginations, issue #56, and "The Best Of Crazed"

My name is (Catsuit Kelly), I'm a single mom, licensed massage practitioner, and seafood broker rep. from Seattle, Washingon.  Oh yeah, sorry:  I'm also a Rocky Horrorite.

The first time I saw RHPS was in 1986, with a friend from my high school debate class (thanks Julie ...I think), her parents, and her 12 year old brother.  Being from the 'burbs of Seattle, I was rather surprised that her brother knew all the song lyrics and most of the AP lines.  My folks don't dance like that, if you understand me.  My friend loaned me her Par-tic-i-pation tape, and warned me not to let anyone know that it was my first time because "they do horrible, embarrassing things" to "virgins".  That was the last time I took her advice.  We made toast and hid large quantities of rice in our coats, yelled AP, and it was fun:  a bit of culture shock, but fun.  We went back together several times.  It wasn't long before I got to know some people, started going whether anyone came with me or not.

I've been with the Vicarious Theater Company for 7 years, performed with various now defunct Seattle casts, and love to visit and perform with other casts.  I have, as of 10-31-1999, attended 527 screenings of RHPS.  I play Frank, Magenta, and a Transylvanian most often, though I've regularly performed as Rocky, Janet, and Columbia, and have dabbled with everything (but don't let that get around).
The things that attract me to the show are the atmosphere, humor, costumes and makeup, performing and planning of shows, and the people, by varying degrees.  The things that annoy me about the show are the costumes, planning and promoting of shows, and the people, by varying degrees.  Whether or not the movie itself is even enjoyable to watch anymore is beyond the point.  It's in my blood.

Rocky Horror has developed skills and traits in me that nobody (including me) suspected me of having.  If you had told my parents that their oldest daughter would spend a great deal of time in front of a sewing machine, they'd have said you were crazy.  If anyone had told me 3 years ago that I'd be creating and managing anybody's website I'd have said the same thing.  Of course, my father never expected to have to explain to his co-workers at the Seattle Times what was up with that article in which his daughter, in a getup from Victoria's Secret nightmares, was labeled a "gender bender" either (and nobody expects the spanish inquisition, bwahahahaha!).

I first saw Shock Treatment in 1987, at a cast gathering after a performance.  It wasn't any easier to form an instant opinion of that flick.  I rented it, as a novelty mostly for the benefit of the RH newbies, over the years, but never gave it much consideration until I saw it with a live cast.  It's funny, I never thought performing ST was such a good idea.   Sometimes I'm a little slow, but that caught up with me too, and I now own complete costuming for Francine (Frankie!) and Janet Majors, and hope to get extensive use out of them in years to come.

I plan to continue with the VTC on a monthly basis, attend RH conventions often, and resist dressing my daughter up as a RH character this Halloween.  I can be reached through the VTC's website (www.thezenroom.com).. send me some mail   :)

I will add something onto this at the end of 2004
